A&E Fire and Security says that Lightfoot’s driver behaviour technology has given it 9.8% improvement in fuel economy and cut speeding incidents by almost a fifth.

It has installed Lightfoot’s in-cab technology and rewards platform across its fleet of 27 commercial vehicles to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, fuel use and claims incidence.

After purchasing and installing the devices, A&E and Lightfoot elected to run the devices in ‘blind’ mode – in which its devices were installed but did not interact with the drivers – for several weeks. This established a definitive baseline for the fleet’s efficiency.

With a clear picture of A&E’s fleet performance established, Lightfoot turned the devices ‘live’ – activating real-time visual and audible feedback to help drivers maintain a more efficient driving style.

The impact of Lightfoot was instant, slashing incidents of speeding by almost 20%. Lightfoot driving penalties fell by 99%, and this smoother, less aggressive driving style has delivered fuel savings of 9.8%.

The pocket-sized dashboard display device uses live engine data to provide drivers with real-time feedback, helping fleets to improve efficiency and safety one mile at a time, says Lightfoot.

Drivers have access to an app so they can see their driving performance and score, along with access to exclusive competitions and rewards that serve as an incentive to maintain a smoother driving style.

Lynn De Backer, A&E’s finance manager, said: “Introducing Lightfoot has not only helped us to make driving conditions better and journeys safer, our staff are now also rewarded for their commitment, whilst introducing a little competitive edge to keep team spirits high.

“Lightfoot innovatively monitors our CO2 emissions and encourages better, more fuel-efficient driving which in turn helps to reduce emissions.

“As a company we are looking beyond our competition, setting a benchmark and making our fleet more efficient and greener.”
