Lloyds Transport and Warehousing has taken on four Iveco LNG (liquified natural gas) tractor units as part of its commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.

The Stralis 6x2 LNG trucks were supplied by dealer Guest Truck and Van on a five-year contract hire deal with maintenance included.

Colin Whorton, director at Lloyds Transport, which is a national haulage and logistics company company, said: “Lloyds are big advocates of protecting the environment and subsequently continue to look at ways of reducing our carbon footprint.

“Our business is consistently looking to invest in the future, supporting the brands of today and tomorrow by providing the most sustainable route to market.

“We explored the market of vehicle manufacturers in search of the most eco-friendly trucks available today and after trialling several types we chose LNG from Iveco as the preferred fuel and manufacturer combination.”

Shaun Sangha, account manager for heavy truck sales at Guest Truck and Van, added: “LNG is becoming an increasingly popular choice for some fleets, although we are finding that managers do need to make sure that the vehicles are right for them with a real-world test before making their decision.

“These units will be the first Iveco as well as gas units to join the Lloyds fleet.”
