Renault has updated the pricing and specification of the Megane E-Tech Electric, which is now £500 cheaper across the line-up.

The car is now available for £33,995 and is offered in Evolution, Techno and Iconic trim levels.

The Megane E-Tech Electric was the first car to be launched under Renault's plan for 10 new BEVs by 2025.

The model is built on the manufacturer’s new electric vehicle CMF-EV platform. It features a 60kWh battery, giving up to 280 miles of range.

The motor produces 218PS, providing a 0-62mph time of 7.4 seconds.

Evolution starts the range with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, heated steering wheel and heated front seats, rear park assist and a rear view camera. A heat pump is also fitted as standard.

Techno (from £35,995) is marked out by 20-inch alloy wheels and features adaptive LED headlights with automatic high/low beam, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and both front and rear park assist. The Techno grade also includes synthetic leather upholstery, customisable ambient interior lighting and Google services including Google Assistant, Maps, and Play store.

Iconic, priced from £37,995, adds a gold exterior styling elements, while the interior gains a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, smart rear-view mirror, and around view 3D camera system.

The Megane E-Tech is compatible with DC chargers up to 130kW, which means it can take up to 186 miles of range in 30 minutes.

It also has predictive charging management, which uses the route on the vehicle’s navigation system to set the battery at the appropriate temperature as the car nears a planned charging point, making the best use of the charging point’s capabilities for a faster, fuller charge.

Renault says the interior dimensions of the car are similar, if not better, than those of the ICE-powered Megane.

It boasts a total boot volume of 440 litres while the charging cables have their own 22-litre storage area accessible via a removable boot floor panel.
