8 2023 Peugeot 2008

Peugeot has facelifted the 2008 compact SUV with a fresh new look, updated technology and revised powertrains.

The new model will go on sale later this year and will carry over the 100PS and 130PS 1.2-litre petrol engines from the existing model.

A new 48V mild hybrid powertrain will join the line-up next year. Peugeot says the new hybrid will operate on electricity for up to 50% of the time when driving in town, boosting fuel economy by around 15%

The electric e-2008 has been upgraded with a larger battery, providing a capacity of 54kWh and an improved range of 252 miles - up 38 miles from the existing model. The e-2008 also features a new electric motor, with an output of 156PS.

Two types of onboard chargers are available on the new e-2008: as standard, a single-phase 7.4kW charger and, as an option, a three-phase 11kW charger. The new e-2008 can be recharged from 0-80% in 30 minutes from a 100kW rapid charger, or 7 hours 30 minutes from a 7.4kW charger.

At the front, the 2008's sharper styling is achieved through three vertical light "claws" which are integrated into new gloss black inserts on the bumper.

The light signature is emphasised at the rear end, where new LED tail lights contribute to visually widening the car's stance.

Inside, the 2008 retains the i-cockpit layout and presents drivers with a small flat-topped steering wheel and digital instrument cluster. A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system is fitted across the range and features a new operating system that supports over-the-air updates.

Driver assistance systems will include adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, extended traffic sign recognition, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Alert and Blind Spot Monitoring.

The car's dimensions remain unchanged, with its boot volume remaining at 434 litres.

The new 2008 will be offered in Active, Allure and GT trim levels, when it goes on sale in the summer.
