Mazda will have its flagship CX-60 PHEV and MX-30 fully electric crossover SUV as part of its presence at this year’s Fleet & Mobility Live on October 3 & 4.

The CX-60 PHEV has proved to be a popular choice for Mazda with corporate company car drivers after the HMRC made a clarification on its benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax bracket to move it into the 8% banding.

The car previously sat in the 12% band, as its official electric range was under the required 40-mile threshold.

However, HMRC agreed to move the car into a lower tax bracket by rounding up the range.

As the CX-60 PHEV has an official range of 39.15 miles, it therefore qualifies for the lower tax rate.

Steve Tomlinson, Mazda UK head of fleet and remarketing, said: “The CX-60 is the flagship of our range and production has really started to come through to the point where we can get demonstrators out to fleets to get behind the wheel.

“It’s been our best seller in the core company car sector and we want more fleets to experience the car and to consider Mazda on their choice lists.

“We attended Fleet & Mobility Live last year and made a few friends. We wanted to attend again to see if we could make a few more.”

The Japanese brand will also be bringing its MX-30 all-electric crossover SUV to the show as part of the event’s E-Street area of the exhibition hall.

Tomlinson describes the MX-30 as a perfect choice for user choosers or a perk car driver.

He said: “The MX-30 is a competitive entry point in terms of P11D into the EV market. The majority of drivers do fewer than 25 miles a day, so it’s perfect for a lot of drivers as a commuter car.”

Mazda is also close to launching the new MX-30 R-EV plug-in hybrid, with the first models due to arrive in the UK a few weeks after Fleet & Mobility Live.

The MX-30 REV always drives as an electric vehicle. Like a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the wheels are driven exclusively by electric motors.

However, unlike other PHEVs, the petrol engine doesn't power the wheels directly, but acts as a generator to charge the battery.

Tomlinson added: “We think the MX-30 R-EV is going to be a nice segway into a BEV for a lot of customers.

“I’ll be on the stand alongside Mazda’s national fleet sales manager Chris Stableford and members of the field sales and brand teams.

“We’ll be able to help with any fleet or technical related questions delegates might have that want to pay a visit to us at Mazda.”
