This year’s Fleet & Mobility Live will feature a special area dedicated to bringing together transport professionals at local authorities across the UK and the public and private sector fleets they are closely collaborating with.

The Local Authority and Public Sector Fleet Hub, in association with Energy Savings Trust (EST) and sponsored by ALD LeasePlan, will run on October 3 & 4 at the NEC and includes two dedicated round table discussions per day for both parts of the hub, as well as a central networking space to boost collaboration and discussion on key topics around electrification, charging infrastructure, transport carbon reduction and more.

The Hub is an exclusive space to Fleet & Mobility Live and entrance will be reserved for local authorities and fleet managers that pre-book their place in advance.

Representatives from the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) fund will also be on hand across both days to offer guidance and support on applying for investment into charging infrastructure in towns and cities.

The path to EV fleet transition

Public sector and private fleet managers will gain advice on how to review their current vehicles to successfully make the move to switch more cars and vans to zero emissions. This session will also offer advice on how to help drivers make the switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles as well as information on how fleets can introduce electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes to further reduce employees’ carbon emissions.

Charging infrastructure challenges and opportunities

Planning out a fit for purpose charging infrastructure requires collaboration between many stakeholders, including joined up thinking from local authorities, distribution network operators (DNO) and private sector specialists. This session will look at how local authorities can make sure there is the capacity in place to expand charging infrastructure at the scale needed, as well as planning for an accessible and equitable future for all zero emission drivers.

The key elements of decarbonising fleets & EV transition – the bigger picture with ALD LeasePlan and EST

This presentation by ALD LeasePlan and EST will bring together both local authorities and fleets to further boost collaboration and understanding between the two. This joint presentation will offer fleets advice on how local authorities are looking to collaborate with businesses on their zero emissions strategy and will also offer advice on how fleets can assess their current vehicles to switch more of them to electric. This presentation will also look at how fleet operations are changing to accommodate a zero emissions world and to help them understand the right questions to ask and the right stakeholders to work with. Representatives from Hitachi Europe will also deliver their latest insight on Optimise Prime, which is the largest electric commercial vehicle project in the world.

Tender preparation “How to get the most from your tender”

This session will offer advice on how fleets can review their routing and operations to deliver a smooth transition for electric cars and vans. Planning exactly what’s needed is essential ahead of preparing to tender for vehicles and a combination of depot, workplace and home charging facilities. This session will also look at how fleets can use data led planning on areas like charging schedules and vehicles off-road.

Accessibility, LA collaboration and community engagement

This session will look at how local authorities are working to correctly identify the needs of residents and specialist fleets when it comes to decarbonisation strategies.
This includes looking at the equity of charging infrastructure provision, alternative mobility modes and solutions, as well as how to closely engage with communities to help change travel behaviour.
