Copart UK has expanded its fleet by investing in 30 new DAF-based specialist salvage transporters.

The DAF CF chassis are being converted by specialist transporter builders Belle Trailers and Hunwicks Engineering.

Four of the new vehicles were delivered in August and are already operational. All 30 vehicles are scheduled to be delivered and operational by the end of November 2017, in readiness for the busier winter period.

The vehicles are fitted with driver aids such as lane departure warning and emergency braking.

These features make the vehicles safer to operate and the new eight-car body means they’re also more productive in operation.

Copart’s operations director Simon Sheldon-Wilson said: “This is a significant addition to our fleet which is already the largest of its kind in the UK.

“Our investment helps us to continue to deliver industry leading collection times in response to ever-growing demand from insurance and automotive customers.

“Speed of collection means costs are managed and vehicles can be prepared and presented for sale more quickly.”
