Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Felixstowe has doubled its capacity, thanks to a £500m investment.

The depot, which recently won a Service Excellence Award from the manufacturer for the second time, has seen an increase in the number of workshop bays from 3 to 7, including a dedicated ATF MoT lane, a new 19 metre long service pit, a new truckwash building and a brand new waiting room and showers for drivers.

In addition to the increase in workshop capacity and thanks to a careful reconfiguring of the 8,300 square metre footprint of the Dealerpoint, the safe parking area for trucks, trailers and buses has also been more than doubled.

Describing the completely refurbished dealerpoint facilities at the official opening ceremony, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia managing director David Sullivan said: “The investment here at Felixstowe demonstrates our long-term commitment to the region and to improving our ability to serve our many loyal and much valued customers at Felixstowe Port and across the local area.”

“Richard Handy, our Service Manager, and the team at Felixstowe, recently won a Service Excellence Award from Volvo Trucks for the second time and we are very proud of this achievement by our staff here. The Felixstowe Technicians are also regular regional finalists in VISTA, Volvo’s global service competition,” he continued.

“That in itself is a tribute to their enthusiasm and motivation for looking after our fantastic customers.”

“These superb new facilities provide a real boost for the staff in all departments, who have demonstrated their pride in working here,” concluded David Sullivan.

Also speaking at the official opening ceremony, Volvo Group UK Managing Director Arne Knaben said: “This significant investment in the Felixstowe dealership is the right thing to do and we have chosen the right time to do it. The new facilities will benefit customers, drivers and staff alike.”
