Reflex Vehicle Hire has been assessed among the top 3% of its industry peers during an environmental, social, governance (ESG) risk rating assessment from Morningstar Sustainalytics.

To secure the ESG risk rating, data from 2022 was analysed by Morningstar Sustainalytics, an ESG research, ratings and data firm that works with thousands of companies and their financial intermediaries to help them consider sustainability in policies, practices, and capital projects.

In August 2023, Reflex Vehicle Hire was assessed to be at ‘Low Risk’ of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.

Its ESG Risk Rating score, marked out of 40, was 13.6, with a lower score reflecting better performance.

This puts Reflex Vehicle Hire’s ESG risk rating in the top 7% of all companies assessed by Morningstar Sustainalytics, in addition to being in the top 3% of industry peers the company has reviewed.

The independent audit, says Reflex, builds on its work guiding fleet customers to a greener future and making a difference to employees, customers and the community.

Work has included wide-ranging investment in environmental improvements for the business and customers, a dedicated risk management focus, and supporting a range of good causes.

Reflex Vehicle Hire has now launched a new ESG committee, in which staff from all areas of the business will be represented.

Lisa Spong, sales director of Reflex Vehicle Hire, said: “We want to give our employees a voice in our ESG journey, so we are delighted to launch a new ESG committee, which will give our entire team a say in how we improve our performance while driving growth.

“I am very proud of the hard-working team behind our ESG success and look forward to improving further in the coming months and years.

“As a flexible vehicle hire provider, we have a critical role to play in delivering ESG improvements that make a difference to our employees, our customers and the community.”

The ESG committee will maintain the momentum of Reflex Vehicle Hire’s successful progress, building on improvements that already encompass a range of new products and services to help customers reach key environmental and risk management goals, it said.

Spong added: “We have a reputation for leading the industry when it comes to important issues facing the fleet sector.

“For example, our dedication to ‘Safety as Standard’ has played a pivotal role in putting risk management at the heart of vehicle hire services.

“This is just a small part of our work on ESG. Our strong audit performance shows that we are making great progress, although we recognise there is always further work to be done to minimise our ESG risk.”
