Automotive data expert Cap HPI has appointed Martin Verrelli as business development director with a brief to grow the company’s global operations.

Verrelli brings a wealth of experience from senior international roles at Volkswagen, Jato and EuroTaxGlass’s.

Commenting on his move, Martin Verrelli said: “I join Cap HPI at an exciting time in its development. As part of global data business, Solera, the company has ambitious plans and products that will disrupt the market.”

The company announced its global plans at the Paris Motorshow and unveiled a European data set that will underpin its insight and data services with a new global coding system.

The company claims a single global code will help the industry drive innovation and growth throughout the vehicle lifecycle by enabling data led businesses to scale internationally in a fraction of the time and with much less cost.

Verrelli will recruit and lead a global business development team as the company rolls out across Europe and the Middle East in the coming months.

The company’s plan is underpinned by a globalised approach to automotive data that will have far-reaching implications for the motor industry.

The new code will enable businesses to take a unified view of global trends, and see efficiencies across all operations that use new and used vehicle data.

Cap HPI says the new code is numeric-based and will provide a future-proofed platform that enables a wide range of technology-based solutions. It will allow far greater levels of detail and accuracy when describing a model, chassis and powertrain variants.

The existing Cap code, which has underpinned the motor industry in the UK for 30 years, will run alongside the new code and receive support indefinitely.
