David Rowlands has been appointed general manager for Hertz UK, replacing Neil Cunningham, who, after 19 years at the company, has decided to pursue a new career opportunity.

Rowlands, who assumed his new role on November 16, is responsible for developing and driving Hertz UK’s strategy and business plan as well as leading the country’s vehicle rental operations.

Prior to joining Hertz, Rowlands was senior vice president of global operations for Antenna International, where he was responsible for driving significant revenues as well as operational and performance margin improvements. 

He has also served as vice president, international retail operations at Sony Pictures for four years and as international retail development director at NBC Universal Pictures International for seven years. He previously held leadership positions at Tate & Lyle Europe and Warner Brothers Home Video International. 

He started his career at Asda Storeswhere he held various head office and store management roles.

He reports directly to Rafael Girona, senior general manager region north, Hertz International.
