Intelligent Telematics has provided a 3G vehicle camera solution to the University of Glasgow’s fleet, to target insurance savings and encourage responsible driving.

The company’s IT1000 device will initially be installed on 25 vans before being rolled out across a further 87 fleet vehicles made up predominantly of cars and minibuses.

“The IT1000 is clearly the standout solution that provides us with the complete package that meets our precise fleet requirements,” explained Ronald Ford, transport services manager at University of Glasgow.

“Over the past 12 months we have road-tested five other vehicle cameras, but all demonstrated one issue or another in terms of video quality, poor GPS or inadequate connectivity.”

The transport team will monitor video footage to ensure vehicles are being driven responsibly in line with the University of Glasgow’s safety and duty of care commitment. With an approved driving register of more than 1,000 members of staff and students, the 3G vehicle camera solution will be used to investigate all collisions and review the status of those involved.
