Mini has unveiled the next-generation Mini Cooper Electric, which will replace the existing Mini Electric.

The all-new model is available from £30,000 and has a range of up to 250 miles.

A petrol-powered Mini Cooper will also be available at a later date.

The Mini Cooper Electric retains its iconic shape but integrates new flush-fit door handles and a new, wider tailgate that incorporates the rear lights.

Inside, there's a new central infotainment screen that incorporates the instrument cluster and climate controls. It uses OLED technology and an all-new operating system. A panel of switches below the screen includes the gear selector, power button and a volume control for the audio system. The curved dashboard features a textile surface for the first time.

Additional underfloor storage is available in the luggage compartment, and by folding down the rear seats in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment can be expanded from 200 to 800 litres.

The Mini Cooper Electric is available in two variants: E and SE. The Cooper E is equipped with a 40.7kWh battery, which provides up to 190 miles of range. It uses a 184PS electric motor and can accelerate from from zero to 62mph in 7.3 seconds.

The Cooper SE has a larger 54.2kWh battery, which gives a 250-mile range. It also feature a more powerful electric motor, developing 218PS/330Nm, and can hit 62mph from rest in 6.7 seconds.

The battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, with a DC charging capacity of up to 95kW. There is also an 11kW on-board AC charger.

Three different trims are offered: Classic, Exclusive and Sport. The Classic trim presents a reduced overall appearance while highlighting key parts such as the logo in new colour Vibrant Silver. It uses a modern 2D knitted textile in the interior of a production vehicle for the first time. Black sports seats in synthetic leather are offered with a distinctly patterned multitone textile to match a coloured textile band on the dashboard, while on the dashboard and door handles, a two-tone black knitted material is offered. 

The Exclusive trim adds additional exterior design elements, such as the option for a Multitone Roof with a combination of three different colours, as well as offering the front grille in Vibrant Silver. It features two-tone houndstooth pattern on the knitted-textile instrument panel and is available in two colours with traditional accent stitching and perforated Vescin sports seats. 

The Sport trim offers a distinctive front and rear design, using high-gloss black as the frame for the front grille and logo colour. Inside, it combines multi-coloured knitted textile and black synthetic leather with red stitching.

Pricing for the Mini Cooper Electric starts at £30,000 for the E and £34,000 for the SE. First customer deliveries are expected to take place in spring 2024.
