7 New Toyota C-HR

Toyota’s next-generation C-HR C-segment SUV will feature a fully-electrified engine line-up, including a plug-in hybrid variant.

The PHEV features a 2.0-litre petrol engine that works in conjunction with a 13.8kWh battery for an electric-only range of 41 miles.

Full details of the UK range, specifications and pricing will be confirmed at a later date, but it will also include 1.8- and 2.0-litre hybrid electric versions.

Toyota says the PHEV will feature a ‘one-pedal-like’ driving experience through a feature called Regeneration Boost that provides a choice of three levels of regenerative braking.

The car will also adjust the drive automatically for maximum regen when following a route on the sat-nav.

A geofencing function on the 2.0-litre PHEV automatically switches the car to EV operations when it enters a low emission zone (UK availability to be confirmed).

The new C-HR’s frontal styling resembles the all-electric bZ4X.

Inside, the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia package includes (according to model grade) and eight or 12.3-inch touchscreen, on-board voice agent and wireless smartphone connection via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

The system will provide EV range information and local charging locations in its POI function.

Owners will be able to use Toyota’s MyT smartphone app for remote control of vehicle functions, including operating the air conditioning system to heat or cool the car before making a journey.

C-HR will feature an automatic parking function. An app will also be available to allow fully remote parking, with the driver outside the vehicle, allowing for even more precise manoeuvring into limited spaces (UK availability to be confirmed).

All versions of the new C-HR will benefit from the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite of active safety and driver assistance features.
