Range Rover has updated the plug-in hybrid powertrains on its flagship model, improving performance and efficiency.

The Range Rover P440e and P510 are replaced by the P460e and P550e, respectively. Both new variants are available to order now.

A new 218PS electric motor is fitted which, when combined with the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, produces 460PS in the P460e and 550PS in the P550e.

The electric range, according to WLTP, has increased from 70 miles to 75 miles. Range Rover says the new models should acheive a real-world zero-emission range of 59 miles.

Acceleration has also been improved, with the 0-60mph time in EV mode slashed by five seconds. In Hybrid mode the car is around half a second quicker in the 60mph sprint.

All new Range Rover models are equipped with an updated Pivi Pro infotainment system, which now integrates the climate controls and audio system volume. It means the Range Rover's interior now features less physical controls and is more reliant on he 13.1-inch central touchscreen. 

Pricing for the new Range Rover starts at £103,575. The updated plug-in hybrids are priced from £115,585.

The new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have achieved record levels of interest since they launched, last year. Electric versions of both cars are expected to arrive in 2024.
