Nissan has revealed the all-new X-Trail, which is available to order now in five- and seven-seat configurations.

The large SUV will be the second model in Nissan’s European range to be equipped with the brand’s E-Power hybrid drivetrain.

Built on the same platform as the new Qashqai, the X-Trail promises improved driveability and better efficiency than its predecessor.

Prices start at £32,030 for the new model, with entry-level versions powered by a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine.

E-Power versions cost £2,435 more and are driven by a 204PS electric motor that draws power from a petrol engine. They are more efficient, with CO2 emissions from 132g/km.

The E-Power can be combined with an all-wheel-drive system, for an extra £2,200, that boosts power to 213PS.

Five trim grades are offered: Visia, Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+.

Cars from N-Connecta grade upwards are fitted with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. They also feature a 360-degree camera.

The X-Trail is equipped with the next generation of Nissan’s ProPilot assist, which now includes Navi-link.

The system can accelerate and brake the vehicle within a single-lane on a highway, including in heavy stop-start traffic.

It can also adapt the car’s speed according to additional external circumstances: when the car crosses into a lower speed limit zone on the highway, the system can read road signs and take into account navigation system speed limit data to slow the X-Trail to the appropriate speed, meaning the driver doesn’t need to adjust the cruise control speed manually.

The system can also use data from the navigation system to adjust the speed for approaching curves on the highway that have a tighter radius.
