Toyota has confirmed the official range figures for the bZ4x SUV, its first purpose-built electric car.

The front-wheel drive Pure model can achieve 317 miles, according to the WLTP test, while the all-wheel drive bZ4X Motion has an official range of 285 miles.

First deliveries of the new model will commence in June 2022.

It's the first of 30 new electric vehicles (EVs) that Toyota and Lexus will launch by 2030.

The bZ4x will be offered in three equipment grades plus a special, high-specification Premiere Edition version to mark its debut.

The Pure grade is the entry point to the line-up, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, eight-inch infotainment display, seven-inch digital instrument cluster, reversing camera, keyless entry and a climate control system with remote operation function.

The bZ4X Pure will be offered exclusively with front-wheel drive.

Stepping up to the bZ4X Motion introduces a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass, power tailgate, parking sensors, heated front seats and a wireless charging tray is provided.

The Motion is priced from £45,750 with front-wheel-drive or £48,350 with all-wheel-drive.

Range-topping Vision grade includes 20-inch alloy wheels, Remote Controlled Parking Assist, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. It will also come with a digital key, allowing the vehicle owner to provide access to the vehicle to others by means of a smartphone app.

Prices for the Vision start at £47,650 with front-wheel-drive or £50,250 with all-wheel-drive.

The Premiere Edition model provides all the features of the Vision grade together with a nine-speaker JBL premium sound system a panoramic sunroof. It comes as standard with X-MODE all-wheel drive and is exclusively available via the Toyota online retail service.

The bZ4x is the first in a new range of electric Toyotas to be launched under its bZ sub-brand.

It’s built on a bespoke electric vehicle (EV) platform, co-developed with Subaru, which incorporates the battery as an integral part of the chassis.

The bZ4x uses a 71.4kWh battery and is able to charge to 80% in half an hour using a 150kW charger. An optional roof-mounted solar panel can provide additional charge to the battery.

Front-wheel-drive models serve up 204PS, while the all-wheel-drive version has 217PS.

The new platform allows for a longer wheelbase – 160mm longer than a RAV4 – to improve passenger space and dynamic capability. It will provide high levels of safety and ride and handling quality, according to Toyota.
