Alfa Romeo has confirmed it will update the engines in the Giulia and Stelvio so they comply with the latest emissions regulations.

From January 2021, the Italian brand’s key models will be offered with RDE2-compliant engines in line with EU requirements.

Details of the new powertrains are yet to be revealed, but Alfa Romeo describes them as “more efficient”.

The announcement coincides with the launch of a new Stelvio variant, the Veloce Ti.

The Stelvio Veloce Ti features a new rear bumper with a specific diffuser, a body kit and optional new 21-inch five-hole alloy wheels. The interior echoes the Quadrifoglio versions, with aluminium gearshift paddles, sports seats in leather and Alcantara, black headlining and real carbon fibre accents.

It comes fitted with a 280PS 2.0-litre Turbo petrol engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive.

A full suite of Alfa Connect Services are also now available across the Giulia and Stelvio ranges. These include and an SOS call function, remote control of the car’s functions via smartphone and the ability to send destinations to the sat-nav remotely.

More information on the revised line-up, with pricing and specification, will be announced in January 2021.
