Volkswagen has added a Match trim level to its Polo supermini line-up, replacing the SE equipment grade.

The new trim level adds 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear tinted windows and front and rear parking sensors over its predecessor.

Volkswagen says if this equipment was specified as options they would cost £980: Match trim carries a £785 premium over the SE equipment grade.

Other standard equipment includes Car-Net App Connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an infotainment system with an eight-inch screen, and lumbar adjustment for the front seats.

Polo Match is available with three engine and gearbox configurations – all 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol units.

The 80PS EVO engine is available with a five-speed manual, while the 95PS turbocharged unit can be ordered with a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG transmission.

WLTP-certified CO2 emissions range from 125g/km to 139g/km, while fuel economy on the combined WLTP cycle is from 42.8mpg to 51.4mpg.
