Nissan will begin testing an autonomous taxi service in Japan in March.

Easy Ride is a robo-vehicle mobility service developed between Nissan and online services provider DeNA.

The service will operate via mobile app.

During the field test, in the Minatomirai district of Yokohama, in Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture, participants will be able to travel in vehicles equipped with autonomous driving technology along a set route.

The route spans three miles between Nissan's global headquarters and the Yokohama World Porters shopping centre.

During the trial all vehicles will be remotely monitored and both companies will use the experience to develop future driverless mobility solutions.
