Nora Leggett has announced that she will retire from the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) at the end of December.

Leggett has served the trade body for more than 26 years, working with three CEOs and director generals.

During her time she has taken responsibility for a number of functions, most recently as director of member services and HR director.

After joining the BVRLA in 1997, she played a pivotal role in developing some of the association’s key member services, events and learning and development offerings.

She has also supported the BVRLA’s response to a series of tumultuous events, including the credit crunch, vehicle-as-a-weapon terrorist attacks, exit from the EU and Covid.

“Nora’s contribution to our organisation and the industry at large has been immense,” said BVRLA chief executive, Gerry Keaney.

“Her dedication, enthusiasm, commercial skills, and industry knowledge have played a vital role in bringing the BVRLA to the strong position it is in today.”

Her sustained influence was recognised at the last BVRLA committee of management, where the association’s directors gave Leggett a special award for her ‘exemplary leadership and outstanding contribution’.

She said: “I am proud of what I have achieved working with members and with colleagues during my 40-year career.

“It has been an extraordinary privilege to have served the vehicle rental and leasing sector, firstly with Hertz UK and latterly with the BVRLA.

“I have been lucky enough to work with some incredibly talented people and have enjoyed every minute of it.”
