Rivus and Kier announce five-year partnership

Cheryl Feely-Jones, Rivus’ customer operations director, and Kier's head of fleet, Julie Madoui.

Rivus Fleet Solutions has entered into a new partnership with Kier to deliver a broad range of fleet management and maintenance services.

The new partnership sees Rivus Fleet Solutions, previously BT Fleet, taking over Kier’s 7,000 vehicle fleet operation for the next five years. This will include elements of service, maintenance & repair (SMR), accident management, and vehicle procurement through funding and rental options – across the operational fleet as well as managing Kier’s company car scheme.

The full fleet outsource is a new way of working for Kier. The group’s head of fleet, Julie Madoui, explained: "Working in partnership with Rivus will give us better control of costs across our business units, more efficient processes, improved access to innovation and better visibility of our fleet data. Ultimately, we will get a better value service for Kier as a whole."

This new strategic partnership increases Rivus’ fleet size to 85,000 assets, one of the largest within the fleet management market.

The opportunity with Kier expands boundaries in Rivus’ product offering to the industry, showcasing services outside those usually publicised and highlighting its expertise in complex assets, it said.

The new contract will see Rivus source and supply leased vehicles with a maintenance model through its garage network and 50 mobile technicians.

Cheryl Feely-Jones, Rivus’ customer operations director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Kier under our new Rivus Fleet Solutions branding.

“This exciting outsource opportunity allows us to really showcase everything that Rivus has to offer from leasing, maintenance, accident management, through to full fleet management and support for drivers and business areas.

“We really look forward to the next five years and developing the partnership which has been flourishing with Kier as we phased in some early services this year.”

The deal comes after Rivus Fleet Solutions announced it was closing 11 “loss-making” garages, reducing its network from 65 to 54.

Other large construction firms with their own fleet departments should take note, this is the future.
