TomTom Telematics has launched a new feature to its Webfleet fleet management solution, Asset Tracking, which gives a company visibility over its assets, such as trailers, generators and other equipment.

From one interface, both the vehicles and assets can be displayed on a clear map view.

Asset Tracking users will know when the asset is being used, and when it is leaving its current locating.

Vice president of product management at TomTom Telematics Paul Verheijen said: “Our focus is always on providing insight and making the working process simpler, safer and more efficient.

“That’s precisely what Asset Tracking does.

“The user can find out the location of each asset in seconds, whether it’s on-site or off.

“If they want more detail, they can get instant reports 24/7 listing current position, trip, maintenance, input and all the other details regarding how the asset is being used.

“Essentially, it provides a host of functionalities that support the user to get the most value and productivity out of each specific asset.”

Asset Tracking will offer further safety measures to protect companies from both theft and the mishandling of its assets.

Notifications can also be set-up based on the odometer, operating time or time since its last maintenance

On October 1 TomTom Telematics will be renamed Webfleet Solutions.

Its fleet management, vehicle telematics and connected car services, will all still be on offer to its 50,000 customers in over 60 countries.

The renaming comes after its £800 million April 1 purchase by Bridgestone Europe, the tyre and rubber company.
