Charge R&D is putting its range extended electric truck and bus prototype through its paces at the Millbrook test track.

Developed by the internationally funded but UK-based high technology company, the new truck and bus platform is designed to be used in trucks and buses from two to 26 tonnes gross weight.

The endurance testing programme using this first prototype, which will be followed by several others this year, is designed to evaluate major components and the fuel efficiency of the range extended electric concept truck.

"We believe that very soon we will be able to demonstrate that we have found the ultimate target of emissions free heavy vehicle technology - ultra low emissions at much less than the cost of diesel power", said Glenn Saint, Charge's technical director.
