Sheffield-based electrical engineering company Main Electrical has reduced labour costs by 12% and fuel usage by 15% after installing a Ctrack vehicle tracking product, the company said.

Since adopting web-based tracking tool Ctrack Online across 17 vans used by its team of electricians a year ago, Main Electrical has also increased the productivity of mobile resources.

The company has used Ctrack Online’s reporting package to monitor working hours and automate timesheets.

This has streamlined payroll processes and ensured that the number of hours booked by staff accurately reflects actual hours worked, resulting in a saving of 12%.

The company has also witnessed a substantial drop in private mileage, which has helped achieve fuel savings of 15%.

The added visibility and control provided by Ctrack Online means Main Electrical has been able to boost the productivity of electricians in the field. By better managing resource from the company’s head office in Halfway, Sheffield, it has been able to enhance the service provided to a wide range of commercial, domestic and public sector clients with an increase in the time spent on site.

Ted Willers, managing director of Main Electrical, said: “We are committed to providing total professionalism and the highest quality of workmanship, so the tracking tool is helping us meet these requirements in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible.”
