TMC has partnered with EV charging start-up Mina to enable businesses to pay for the electricity used for business miles by employees with home chargers.

As part of the TMC-e service, drivers can record their business journeys through TMC’s app, enabling Mina to connect to the employee’s smart charger and calculate the actual cost of electricity used for business mileage based on the employee’s electricity tariff.

The employee’s energy bill is credited directly, so there are no expenses to claim by the employee.  The business receives one monthly bill to cover home charging for the whole fleet.

Paul Hollick, managing director of TMC, said: “We are delighted to be working with Mina to offer our clients another option for domestic electricity reimbursement.  TMC-e is all about making the transition to electric vehicles as hassle free as possible for fleets and Mina was founded on the premise to make electric charging radically simple.  It’s a great collaboration.

“Home charging is the most cost-effective way to charge electric vehicles and businesses should encourage it wherever possible.  Expanding TMC-e to include the Mina payment options makes perfect sense and gives our clients a market-leading product when reimbursing employees for their business mileage.”

The collaboration has already kicked-off with deployment at one of the UK’s largest fleets, bringing together the TMC and Mina joint mission of encouraging home charging by making it as simple as possible for employees.

Ashley Tate, co-founder and director of Mina, added: “We’re really pleased to be working with TMC to complement their end to end EV fleet solutions. TMC are experts in fleet management, so to be collaborating with them to help make EV charging really simple for fleets is an exciting opportunity.”

Mina provides the UK’s only EV Fuel Card, which allows fleet vehicles to be charged at home or on the road and the fleet owner pays just a single bill for all energy used.

TMC has also updated its guide on electric vehicle reimbursement options. It covers the various options for reimbursing drivers of pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and mild hybrids for their business mileage. The guide includes options for company owned and grey fleet vehicles and demonstrates how companies can use real world data to maximise cost savings. You can download the free guide here.
