Centrica has appointed Rob Simister to head of fleet at British Gas, after former Fleet News fleet manager of the year, Steve Winter, left the role in April

Simister will be responsible for management of 10,500 passenger and commercial vehicles, and creation and delivery of the net zero vehicle fleet strategy across the Centrica business.

He was previously marketing portfolio manager at Centrica, where he was responsible for the creative and media strategy, and tender process for renewal of Centrica's marketing needs across all businesses and channels.

Winter, who succeeded Colin Marriot as head of fleet at the utility company in 2017, has already electrified large swathes of the British Gas fleet.

British Gas owner Centrica has committed to being a net zero business - electrifying its 12,000 vehicle fleet - by 2025

Its company car scheme is plug-in hybrids and electric only, with an order bank of virtually all battery electric vehicles. British Gas’s salary sacrifice scheme is full electric only.
