Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners (YHC) and Enterprise Car Club have launched a self-service car hire facility at the harbour.

The Enterprise Car Club vehicle will be parked in front of Yarmouth Harbour Office and can be booked by the hour or day via the Enterprise Car Club website, app or via Enterprise Newport, IW branch.

Tyler Brunt, manager at the Newport branch of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, said: “We are delighted to be providing car hire at a new location on the Island.

“With our easy-to-use Enterprise Car Club app or website, customers can simply book, unlock and go. Now there’s no need to bring your car over on the ferry, and by using the car club, customers can support sustainable travel on the Island.”

Enterprise Car Club allows member 24/7 access to vehicles – the range includes vans, electric cars and hybrids which can be accessed from more than 100 branches and more than 1,400 on-street locations in more than 180 cities and communities in the UK.

Tim Adams, Yarmouth Harbour master, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with Enterprise Car Club to add car rental to the growing range of services and facilities on offer to visiting seafarers, Islanders, and indeed tourists coming to Yarmouth town.”

The launch of the car club at Yarmouth Harbour follows Norfolk County Council joining forces with Enterprise to bring a new car club offering to Norwich.

It also follows after a recent survey revealed that a third of car owners who have joined a car club have got rid of at least one vehicle since joining, with more than two-thirds (68%) of those disposed cars being at least five years old.
