Brake has revealed the winners and highly commended entrants for the 2021 UK Fleet Champions Awards.

The Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety was won by Dave Conway from FM Conway, while Openreach’s Kieren Tickner was named as Road Risk Manager of the Year.

Ross Moorlock, chief operating officer at Brake, said: “Once again it was amazing to see the depth of commitment across the fleet industry to improving road safety reflected in the entries we received for these awards.

“The fantastic and life-saving work by our winners and highly commended entrants show how they are going the extra mile to reach the highest standards of fleet safety. A huge congratulations to them all.”

Entries were evaluated by a panel of external judges from across the safe and mobility landscape.

Judges praised the proactive and forward-thinking initiatives by entrants to go above and beyond what was expected in terms of enhancing safer driving.

The 2021 award ceremony was sponsored by eDriving and National Highways. Nick Harris, CEO of National Highways, said: “It’s important for the industry to recognise the efforts of the organisations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to manage work-related road risk, that are protecting their drivers, and making sure our roads are safer and healthier places for everyone.

“The calibre of this year’s entries and overall winners has been outstanding and we look forward to continuing to support the invaluable work that Brake does by recognising Global Fleet Champions through its global campaign.”

Andy Cuerden, managing director for Europe at eDriving, added: “It’s fantastic to see the industry coming together to celebrate those organisations that continue to work tirelessly to improve the safety of people who drive for work.

“These awards demonstrate the progress being made every day as we all work together to reduce collisions and improve road safety systems.”

The awards are held annually as part of Brake’s Global Fleet Champions campaign, a global partnership to prevent crashes and reduce pollution caused by vehicles used for work purposes.
