Taxi drivers receive free EV charging for one year

Engie and Bromsgrove District Council have launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

Powered by Engie’s GeniePoint network, it will provide Bromsgrove-registered taxi drivers with the opportunity to charge their EVs free of charge for the first year.

With further substantial discounts offered for the next nine years, it is hoped the initiative will encourage more drivers to make the shift towards adopting EVs.

A total of 13 GeniePoint Network rapid chargers will be installed and will be available for use by the public as well as other businesses making the change to EVs.

Jerry Moloney, managing director for Engie’s Futures business, said that the rollout is an exciting step towards improving EV infrastructure in the locality and, with discounts offered to Bromsgrove-registered taxi drivers, he hopes it will encourage a great number of drivers to make the switch to an EV.

Fraikin partners with Samsara to improve fleet safety and sustainability

Samsara has partnered with Fraikin UK, part of one of Europe's largest commercial vehicle fleet services companies, to surface real-time data that will help customers improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of their connected fleets.

Fraikin Group currently manages more than 58,000 vehicles across Europe including light commercial vehicles, alongside medium and heavy trucks.

It has enlisted Samsara as a preferred partner to provide data-driven services to their customers that identify opportunities to improve driver efficiency and behaviour.

"Connected vehicle data, when interpreted in the right way, can be used to achieve meaningful efficiency gains and cost benefits for our customers," said Mike Hemming, technology champion at Fraikin UK.

"However, oftentimes visibility into this data is both limited and complex to understand. With Samsara as our preferred supplier, our customers will be able to maximise the benefits of actionable data coming from their connected vehicles."
