Chevin Fleet Solutions is urging fleet managers to check their fleet management software capabilities to make sure it can cope with additional demands ahead of Brexit decisions.

Despite the extension to Article 50 until October 31, Chevin says new documents are now required for travel irrespective of wider EU exit negotiations.

These are:

  • The need for hauliers and commercial drivers to register certain commercial trailers to drive internationally.
  • Individuals planning to drive in certain countries outside the EU may require an International Driving Permit.

Chevin says fleet managers need to be sure their drivers have the right paperwork in place before travelling into Europe.

Fleet management software can ensure the tools are in place to manage, track and trace paperwork, automate processs, reduce administration and support compliance to prevent any border holdups.

Ashley Sowerby, managing director of Chevin, said: “There are fleets that continue to use dated systems or even spreadsheets to manage important paperwork which could leave them at risk when travelling in Europe.”
