More than 1,800 employees from Autoglass and parent company Belron swam, cycled and ran at the annual Spirit of Belron event to help raise £970,000 for global charity partner Afrika Tikkun.

Employees from 26 countries attended the event, at Dorney Lake near Windsor, to take part in a triathlon, team marathon relay, duathlon, half marathon, fun run and scootathon.

Afrika Tikkun has been the chosen global charity partner of Autoglass® for 17 years, with the vehicle glass repair and replacement company raising over £8.6 million for the charity during that time.

The charity supports developing communities in South Africa, funding nutritious meals, medical care and youth development programmes in the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Taxiarchis Konstantopoulos, managing director of Autoglass, said: “We are proud to be part of a global community in Belron where giving back is so deeply engrained in our culture.

"The Spirit of Belron challenge is a firm fixture in our annual calendar, and every year the generosity and enthusiasm of our employees blows me away.

"I want to thank everyone who worked hard to make this event a success. The money raised will go towards worthwhile initiatives and we look forward to even more success next year.”
