Tusker was recognised at the Employee Benefits Awards for Best Staff Travel benefits in 2016.

The company was awarded for implementing a successful strategy in making salary sacrifice and business lease cars effective as a benefit.

The Tusker Salary Saving Car Scheme, part of Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s ‘Benefits Everyone’ initiative and is available to more than 14,000 employees.

With a focus on benefiting people across the organisation and improving employee engagement, while also reducing Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s carbon footprint by encouraging the uptake of low CO2 models, the scheme has been successful in growing by more than 300% compared to the scheme it replaced.

Tusker worked with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and reduced CO2 by 15% to an average of 106g/km, well below the figure for all new car registrations last year, while also facilitating cost savings of over £500,000 annually.

The judges were impressed by the strong results achieved through the scheme.  During their announcement, the Employee Benefits Award team said that Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust had “a very clear strategy in what it was trying to achieve, it was very robust in what it was looking to do, particularly in terms of the employees it wanted to reach and its carbon reduction targets, and that the organisation has a real duty of care and that comes through in the scheme.”

David Hosking, chief executive of Tusker, said:  “This is one of the biggest Awards in our calendar and we are so excited to not only have won this category but to also have two other Tusker schemes shortlisted.  We work very hard to make sure that drivers are well looked after and happy and it’s great when this is recognised.”
