Leeds-based AMT Group has completed a £1.1 million investment in a purpose-built 12,000 sq ft rental facility near Stockport.

The new facility has already created around 25 new jobs in the group’s AMT vehicle rental division, which now employs 180 staff around the UK, and features a full customer reception, an indoor valet area, extensive customer parking and houses a fleet of 150 vehicles.

The Manchester Stockport location is the seventh in AMT’s nationwide network and supports its expansion plans.

“Having this year celebrated our 20th anniversary, we are well-established within the niche prestige and specialist vehicle rental sector and, with more than 1,500 vehicles, we have the largest independent fleet in the UK and plan to double the fleet size over the next 18 months,” said Neil McGawley, managing director of AMT Group.

“2015 marked another key stage in our development as we relocated our head office to larger, completely renovated premises in Leeds.

"This latest investment in the north west will further strengthen our position, enabling us to better cover the region and, crucially, to provide rental services for developing markets at both Manchester and Liverpool airports.”

In March, AMT Group moved from its offices in Matrix Court, Beeston, into a new 52,000 sq ft headquarters on a two-acre site on Armley Road representing a £2m investment.

The site also features a show forecourt for its prestige cars sales operation and there are plans to redevelop a second building on the site into a glass-fronted car sales showroom.

The new facilities have doubled AMT Group’s former capacity, providing space for its 45 head office staff and it is estimated that a further 30 jobs will be created in Leeds over the next 18 months.
