Europcar Mobility Group UK has renewed its partnership with salvage parts specialist Synetiq and will continue to use recycled parts to repair its vehicles.

The initiative forms part of Europcar’s ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme, through which it aims to reduce the carbon emissions for its car and van fleet.

The use of green parts plays a crucial role in supporting that approach. In the past year alone, Synetiq has successfully supplied Europcar with 1,145 green parts producing a carbon saving of more than 43,000Kg.

Parts from damaged vehicles in the Europcar UK fleet are passed to Synetiq for use in repairs to other Europcar vehicles.

Ron Santiago, managing director of Europcar Mobility Group UK, said: “We are constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint and are very aware that our customers are keen to do the same. We have been working with Synetiq for the past five years and the continuation of the relationship, following an extensive tender process, speaks volumes about the significant advances we have already made together to operate a greener fleet, while maintaining vehicle safety and decreasing vehicle downtime.”

As well as supporting sustainable motoring solutions, the use of recycled parts helps Europcar fleet management by reducing vehicle downtime. As current supply chain disruptions are expected to remain for much of 2022, using recycled parts ca ensure the quickest possible turnaround for repairs.

Tom Rumboll, CEO at Synetiq, said: “Green parts provide a more sustainable motoring solution not only in helping to reduce carbon emissions but also by presenting additional operational advantages such as reducing vehicle downtime and associated costs, as well as helping businesses mitigate against the current supply challenges. We’re excited to see further carbon savings as we continue together on our joint sustainability journey.”
