The GeniePoint Network will be free to use for all key workers during the COVID-19 crisis, Engie has announced.

The offer is available to existing GeniePoint Network electric vehicle (EV) drivers as well as new registrations, who are key workers operating in critical roles during the pandemic.

All public chargers on the GeniePoint Network will be included in this provision – EV drivers should visit www.geniepoint.co.uk to see the nationwide map of chargers, and to sign up to the GeniePoint Network if not already registered, it said.

The offer will also extend to drivers registered on the Revive charging network in the South West of England, and the Dragon Charging Network in Wales.

The free-charging offer follows Source London’s announcement of free access to its network of EV charge points across the capital to NHS and Met Police staff, to support their efforts in the fight against the Coronavirus crisis.

Its offer will remain in place until the end of April and may be renewed if needed.

In terms of the GeniePoint offer, it says if you’re already a registered driver with the network and a key worker, you should register your account for free charging during this period, by emailing geniepointsupport@engie.com.

You should give the registered name and registered email address of your GeniePoint Network account, and your key worker role.

Once it has received the email, it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to apply.

If an EV driver is not currently registered on the GeniePoint Network, they can go to www.geniepoint.co.uk and register for a GeniePoint Network account. Once you have registered, send details of your account as above to: geniepointsupport@engie.com.

GeniePoint has asked those interested in the scheme not to call the customer services number, the lines are busy at this time and priority is for drivers requiring assistance at chargers.
