Cupra is introducing a new 'hot' version of the Born that offers greater performance and handling, along with more range.

The Born VZ has a power output of 326PS - an improvement of 40% - and 575Nm of torque. This enables a 0-62mph acceleration time of just 5.7 seconds.

It can travel up to 335 miles (WLTP) on a charge, thanks to an improved battery back with a useable capacity of 79kWh.

To support the car's enhanced performance, the Born VZ benefits from modified suspension, steering and brakes. There's also a new 20-inch wheel design and wider tyres, to improve grip.

Paddle shifters have been added to the car's steering wheel, allowing drivers to choose between three different levels of energy recuperation.

Cupra has upgraded the infotainment system with a new 12.9-inch screen that incorporates illuminated 'slider' switches for the volume and temperature controls, addressing a criticism of the previous setup. It can be paired with a new 10-speaker audio system from Sennheiser.

The Cupra Born VZ will be launched in the third quarter of 2024. Pricing and UK specification will be confirmed in the summer.
