Enterprise has opened a new flagship vehicle rental site in Leeds, which will also serve as a technology hub for the business.

The Sheepcar site is the company’s largest in the UK and was opened in response to a significant growth in demand for rental vehicles in the area.

Enterprise has created 12 new jobs at the site, including five graduate positions on, and is currently recruiting across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Sak Gill, Enterprise’s general manager for the region, said: “Enterprise has a long-standing presence in Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire region. Our new branch enables us to offer even more services to both consumers and business customers. We are committed to playing our part in helping the local economy recover by providing a range of vehicles for all needs.”

Enterprise has invested £1.8m in the new site, which replaces a smaller branch on North Street. It enables the company to offer a larger number and range of vehicles, including many new specialised commercial vehicles.

Alongside the rental operation, Entegral, the technology arm of Enterprise Holdings, has also chosen the new Leeds site as its headquarters. The majority of its 55 employees will be based out of the new building to work on the company’s suite of motor claims and vehicle repair software. Entegral will be recruiting software developers as well as business support staff as the company continues to grow.

The branch features many smart sustainability features and the building is powered exclusively by solar energy.

The car park is surfaced with permeable bitumen macadam to help manage the risk of flooding, allowing water to percolate into the sub soil to slow down run-off into the drainage system. Rainwater from the building and external areas is released steadily into the sewer on Benson Street, using a hydro brake to slow down water flow. An automated on-site car wash uses water recycling technology to reduce water consumption.
