The BMW X1, iX1 and 2 Series Active Tourer will be the first models to feature BMW's all-new iDrive 9.0 software.

Vehicles produced from November will be equipped with the new setup, which incorporates Quick Select function that enables numerous vehicle functions to be operated more easily.

The new iDrive features a redesigned home screen that displays the navigation map or other individually configurable items. There's also an improved menu structure. 

A broader offering of digital entertainment content will be available via the system as well as faster updates and new online services.

The new software is expected to feature on the next-generation BMW 1 Series and X2. 

Alongside iDrive 9.0, BMW is also launching the BMW Digital Premium package which provides a range of services such as video and music streaming, in-car gaming and enhanced navigation functions. 

For drivers of existing BMW X1, iX1 and 2 Series Active Tourer models, of the latest generation, a remote software update providing enhanced services will be available before the end of the year.
