BMW has revealed the Touring version of its new 5 Series, along with the electric i5 Touring.

The i5 Touring will be the first to go on sale, arriving in May. It will be offered in eDrive40 and M60 guises, with prices starting at £69,040.

The rear-wheel-drive eDrive40 uses a 340PS electric motor, while the M60 variant uses two motors and has a total power output of 601PS.

Both models use an 81kWh battery, giving a range of up to 348 miles in the eDrive40 and 314 miles in the M60. A 22kW on-board charger is fitted as standard and the i5 supports 205kW rapid charging.

Later in the year, a plug-in hybrid 530e will launch.

Compared to its predecessor, the new 5 Series Touring is longer, wider and taller. At more than five meters in length, it's more spacious than before.

A wider luggage compartment opening and lower loading sill provides easier access to the 570-litre boot, which expands to 1,700 litres with the rear seats folded.

The 5 Series Touring will be offered in three trim levels: Sport Edition, M Sport and M Sport Pro, alongside the i5 M60 variant.
