A new online platform has been launched by the Licence Bureau to help organisations in the public and private sectors manage risk.

The online tool signals a concerted effort to move away from simply being a licence checking company to a complete compliance management business.

Malcolm Maycock (pictured), managing director of the Licence Bureau, told Fleet News that the new platform has been developed thanks to 10 years of customer feedback.

He added: “The web portal allows businesses to be proactive through a series of alerts.

“As we find fewer fleet managers are being employed, this system allows the appropriate people to be involved and a proper audit trial maintained.”

The system is aimed at companies of any size with company car or van drivers, or employees who drive their own vehicles on business – the so-called grey fleet.

It follows a Window 8 format using different tiles on the homepage to represent different areas of risk and is compatible with mobile, table or desktop computers.

“Licence verification is only aspect of the system,” said Maycock. “It’s a full compliance portal.”

The homepage can be tailored to an individual’s needs, but includes tiles representing licence checking, car hire, grey fleet and risk, with new functionality to be added in the coming weeks. These will include fines and accident management.

It’s also compliant with other systems, allowing customers to import data from other suppliers.

Steve Pinchen, sales and business development manager, at the Licence Bureau, explained that the customer can configure the system through a series of tick boxes so that alerts can be automatically managed.

“Once you’ve configured the system there’s an automatic process which is generated and all you need to be notified about is the things that aren’t compliant,” added Pinchen.

The aim is to give customers only the top level information required and avoid them being bombarded with lots of data.

The licence checking element is linked to any driver licence endorsements held by the DVLA, which in turn can be linked to any risk related data on the system to help build a profile of individual drivers.

Maycock said: “It allows you to target any interventions such as driver training more effectively and efficiently.”

The Licence Bureau is also pitching the system, which can be white labelled, at the leasing industry.
