More than half the UK’s vehicle fleet operators believe the Budget will be good for their business, a poll has shown.

The week-long survey was held by comparison website TrackCompare.co.uk and asked respondents whether the 2014 Budget was good for their business - 52% said yes.

Kjell Anderton, a TrackCompare director, said: “This budget was very much a give and take affair, so the results are in line with our expectations and the comments received from our cost-conscious customers.

“Of course, cancellation of September’s fuel duty increase and the higher rate tax threshold rise were both warmly welcomed.

“Also, the £200 million for a pothole fund was a pleasant surprise, particularly in light of a recent TrackCompare poll which found almost 45% of UK fleets had vehicles damaged by potholes over the winter.

“Needless to say, the two per cent company car tax hike didn’t go down at all well.”
