APC Overnight has marked its busiest night ever by successfully processing more than 160,000 parcels in a 24 hour period on Monday, December 16.

Unprecedented demand in the festive season saw millions of parcels pass through the firm’s new national sortation centre in Cannock, Staffordshire.

The increase in parcels also saw the company hit its busiest ever week in the key period of December 16 to 22, processing just under 700,000 consignments – 27% more than the same period last year.

APC Overnight, which has 115 depots across the country, increased staffing levels across the whole network by up to 20% to cope with demand during the Christmas period.

Karl Brown, chief executive of APC Overnight, said: “These latest figures follow on from year on year growth within our network and is one of the key reasons for us investing in our new national sortation centre.

“The increase in the number of parcels processed during our busiest week is a testament to our 115 locally owned depots across the country.”
