ReVue, the evidence-based driver training provider, is sharing its expertise and technology with a Parliamentary road safety group.

The Manchester-based business has become a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) and has been invited to share insight at a technical working party on large vehicles and vulnerable road user safety.

PACTS advises members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords on road, rail and aviation safety issues. It brings together safety professionals and legislators to identify research-based solutions to transport safety problems.

ReVue was launched in 2013 to support commercial fleets to reduce the number of accidents and improve safety on the roads for other users.

Using on-board CCTV cameras and recording technology, it utilises driver footage and coaching intervention to minimise unsafe attitudes and behaviours among vehicle drivers.

Glen Mullins (pictured), managing director of ReVue, said: “Following the recent cyclist deaths in London road safety is high on the news agenda. We are honoured to be able to share our research and success stories to help inform Government decisions on making British roads safer for all.

“Our research has found evidence based driver coaching has a positive effect on improving driver behaviours and  in particular reduces risks that people take whilst driving, this results in reduced accident frequency and severity. I’m looking forward to sharing these findings with the working party.”

David Davies, executive director of PACTS, said: “Reducing the risks posed by large vehicles to cyclists and other vulnerable road is a high priority.

“Segregation is not always an option and we need to make full use of new technologies and better training.

“We are delighted that ReVue has joined PACTS and we are looking forward to learning more about its methods.”

A range of UK fleets across a variety of sectors, including waste, emergency services and construction, are already using ReVue driver training.

It has also recently been approved as a driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) centre and course provider.
