Burnt Tree has won a Green Apple Environment Award in the national campaign to find Britain’s greenest companies, councils and communities.

Burnt Tree won the award for 'Project Revive’ - its ongoing programme that involves recycling and re-using, rather than disposing of, key bodyshop parts, such as body panels and bumpers,

As a result of this project, waste has reduced by 32% and the vehicle parts recycle rate has increased to 97%.

The project was initiated under guidance of the company’s Group HSEQ manager Deborah Greenall

Burnt Tree competed against more than 500 other nominations to win.

Charlie Bailey (pictured, far right), group fleet engineer at Burnt Tree, said: “Through this project, we investigated alternative proposals to the traditional disposal of key body parts and devised a system that allows us to repair them rather than dispose of them, with the finished product looking like new.

"For example, today 100% of our car bumpers are now recycled and repaired, alongside other plastic items such as mirror heads, corner bumpers, rear light surrounds, headlight surrounds and lower step panels.”

As a result of the award, Burnt Tree has now been invited to have its winning paper published in 'The Green Book', which covers environmental best practice.

Burnt Tree is also being considered to represent its country in the European Business Awards for the Environment.

Bailey added: “Not only have we achieved a giant step forward in terms of sustainable development, but this project has further engaged staff in the environmental improvement process where we have permanently reduced waste streams and its impact on the environment.”
