The 39th National Association of Police Fleet Managers' (NAPFM) Conference and Blue Light Fleet Exhibition will take place at the Peterborough Arena on September 25-26.

Most of the UK Police Forces are represented along with the UK Ambulance Service as well as overseas services representing at least ten countries.

The exhibition currently has over 130 exhibitors registered; supplying vehicles, equipment and services to the emergency services.

The event is attracting the attention of many government departments including local authorities. Many of the suppliers to the blue light market are also suppliers to the so-called amber light sector.

The Low Emissions Zone in the exhibition has already attracted entries from nine manufacturers and suppliers; giving fleets an opportunity to compare low carbon options. It is expected that this new addition to the event will be extremely attractive to public sector attendees.

More than 200 vehicles will be on show and at this year’s conference Jim Hammond, head of ACPO ITS, will be announcing the results of the Driver and Vehicle Data Trials along with the lessons learnt.

These will be eagerly awaited by not only the police and ambulance services involved in the trial but by the suppliers involved and the other emergency services about to commit to vehicle data systems.

The new EU Type Approval Regulations will be explained by Mike Protheroe from the Vehicle Certification Agency.

Another of the key speakers at the conference will be John Tizard an independent strategic advisor who will analyse Outsourcing versus Public Sector Collaboration. A subject that has been in our programme since last year but one that hit the headlines in July.

Finally Jason Cross of My Green Fleet will be explaining to delegates what savings and recycling benefits can be achieved by the new End of Life Vehicle Contract.

Whilst the event is not open to the general public a warm welcome is extended to all of the public sector. More information can be found at www.napfmevent.org.uk.
