Business leader Martin McCourt has been appointed chairman of the CAP board of directors.

Martin McCourt was named Orange Business Leader of the Year in 2010 before joining private equity specialists Montagu in March this year. His appointment as chair of CAP’s Board of Directors follows Montagu’s acquisition of CAP in May.

Mr McCourt will lead monthly board meetings and support CAP’s existing team of Directors through ambitious plans to drive growth through excellence in all fields, from technological innovation to customer service. His role is also key to ensuring CAP derives maximum benefit from Montagu’s own support infrastructure, experience and knowledge of the automotive sector.

Martin McCourt is former CEO of Dyson where he was responsible for product development and growth, he has also held leadership roles at Duracell, Mars and Toshiba.

CAP ceo, Ian Rendle, said: “Martin’s vast experience of a wide range of brands and markets is clearly of huge appeal to CAP and is another important step to gearing the business for growth. I am confident he will add great value, support and guidance in taking CAP forward in a way that we previously never dared to dream.”

McCourt said: “I am delighted to be joining the CAP board at an exciting time for the business. The company is poised for growth and to keep delivering on innovation and customer service. I look forward to working closely with the rest of the board, and the wider company, with a focus on supporting CAP’s development and positioning it as a leader in its field for years to come.”
