Vauxhall vans score with small businesses

Vauxhall has sold more than 9,000 vans to retail customers this year and over 2,000 last month, making Vauxhall number one outside of fleet sales in September and year-to-date.

The Luton-built Vivaro, the star of Vauxhall's brand new Built in Britain - For Britain ad campaign, was the best-selling van in the retail medium van segment.

Topping the sales charts in March and April as well as September, Vauxhall's van sales have been buoyed by the offer of four years'/0% APR finance, four years' free servicing, a four year warranty and four years of AA cover.

Building over 70,000 vehicles alone last year at its plants in Luton and Ellesmere Port, Vauxhall is the UK's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles.

The latest edition to the multi award-winning Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles range, the all-new Combo, launched earlier this year.

"September is a crucial month for van sales and I am very pleased with our performance," said Richard Collier, Vauxhall's national commercial vehicle and business-to-business sales manager.

"The popularity of Vauxhall's van range with small businesses is testament to their low running costs, high build quality and superb manufacturer support, especially in the current challenging economic environment."

September was a good month for commercial vehicle sales with the overall van market up by just over 1% on last year.

Low running costs make sense as does high build quality. Does 'superb manufacturer support' factor in to fleet management purchasing decisions? This is a question from New Zealand which only enjoys manufacturer support at arms length. Is it a key consideration in Europe?
