Europcar has joined forces with Adapted Vehicle Hire (AVH), the largest supplier of adapted cars and wheelchair accessible vehicles in the UK to help disabled motorists and their carers stay mobile.

Visitors to the Europcar website will have access to AVH’s fleet of specialist adapted and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Delivering rental vehicles across the country, AVH operates a range of cars which are fitted with very specific adaptations to suit each customer's needs. The company also offers a large and varied fleet of wheelchair accessible vehicles.

Specially adapted cars are fitted with hand controls, flip style left foot accelerators, wheelchair top boxes, infra red controls, steering balls, wheelchair boot hoists, extended pedals and many more bespoke adjustments. In addition, wheelchair accessible vans can have a lowered floor, a high roof or a combination of both, fitted with manual ramps or electric lifts for safe entry and exit to the vehicle.

Ken McCall, managing director of Europcar UK, sais: “This is an exciting move for Europcar, as we continue to cater for the needs of a wider range of customers. Our partnership with AVH means we will be able to offer fleet, leasing and insurance companies with access to the adapted vehicles they need to be able to provide to their disabled customers, in order to comply with the Equality Act.

“We’re delighted to be working with AVH and hope that the partnership will enable those who may have specific needs or a disability, to carry on driving and retain their independence. Being the largest supplier of adapted cars and wheelchair accessible vehicles in the UK means that AVH will also be able deliver first class customer service to our customers.”
