Yorkshire Water has extended its vehicle tracking solution that uses DigiCore’s C-track technology to include a further 130 vans. The additional vehicles bring the total number of vans being tracked by C-track to more than 500.

Each vehicle will be fitted with a C-track device along with a panic alarm and driver ID. This will provide added safety and protection to Yorkshire Water’s mobile workforce whilst giving office-based schedulers access to a real-time overview of the whereabouts of technicians to streamline the job allocation process.

Yorkshire Water will achieve further benefits following the integration of vehicle location information provided by C-track with an existing workforce management application.

Tom O’Connor, Managing Director of DigiCore Ltd said: “The expansion of Yorkshire Water’s vehicle tracking solution recognises the measurable operational and business benefits that have been achieved across their technician fleet. The C-track system has become the vehicle tracking system of choice amongst utilities businesses by repeatedly demonstrating the value it can provide.”

Yorkshire Water has achieved a range of benefits since deploying C-track following a four-month trial involving 60 vehicles in 2007, designed to establish the tangible benefits if adopted across the entire technician fleet. These have included significant improvements in terms of customer interface in the field; response to leakage targets; and compliance around the water sampling function.
